Baudrillard's Territory

(REF) Precession of Simulacra – In reconciling the startling differences between the real and the hyperreal, Neo steps out of Jean Baudrillard’s allegorical map and into the territory of the actual. Referring to his previous neurological cognitive functions as simply simulation within the Matrix, the conceptualized Borgian map comes into focus as the prime example for Neo’s past life. Yet in this case, the map has indeed preceded the territory, leading to a hyperreality that defies general understanding. The precession of simulacra is thus inverted as the actualized territory (normally precluding the conceptualized map) is thus placed in a secondary temporality to that of the virtual map (e.g. The Matrix).
